On December 19, Taiwan Tourism Administration unveiled a lineup of New Year activities set amidst the picturesque locales and amusement parks throughout the country.
In the north, Waiao Beach in Yilan County will host a sunrise event featuring freshly baked bread and beverages. The Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area promise breathtaking views of Turtle Island, an iconic landmark, the TA highlighted.
For those in central Taiwan, the suggestion is to join New Year’s Eve festivities at Guguan and Lishan scenic areas. Notably, Lishan Guest House, situated approximately 2,000 meters high, will hold a national flag raising ceremony on January 1, 2024, as per the TA.
Sun Moon Lake will ignite celebrations with a New Year’s Eve party commencing at 8:00 p.m. on December 31, culminating in a six-minute fireworks display at Shuishe and Ita Thao piers at midnight. Additionally, Lihpao Resort in Taichung City plans to host a concert, fireworks display, and Ferris wheel rides for the first sunrise.
Down south, the TA recommends witnessing a dazzling drone and Ferris wheel lighting spectacle at Janfusun Fancyworld in Yunlin County or enjoying a 16-minute fireworks show at E-Da Theme Park in Kaohsiung. Nature enthusiasts are encouraged to catch the final sunset of the year at Taiping Suspension Bridge in Alishan National Scenic Area. Furthermore, the administration suggests attending the Alishan Sunrise Impression Concert or embarking on a New Year’s Day hike at Siraya National Scenic Area.
Another enticing option is to venture to Taiwan’s outlying islands. Tourists can partake in a celebratory event to illuminate installations near Matsu’s Beihai Tunnel and engage in a volume competition to vocalize New Year wishes in Lienchiang County.
Irrespective of the chosen celebration, the TA emphasizes using public transportation and staying warm amidst the festivities.
