In a groundbreaking first for the state, the third edition of the four-day Beypore International Water Fest (BIWF), kicking off December 26 in Beypore, will feature an awe-inspiring drone light show amid its vibrant festivities. The show, scheduled for December 28 and 29 at Beypore Marina Beach from 7 pm, will showcase the talents of a New Delhi-based IIT startup, deploying a staggering 250 drones. BIWF, renowned for its celebration of water sports and entertainment leading up to the New Year, is set to captivate audiences with this innovative spectacle.
Tourism Minister Shri PA Mohamed Riyas expressed excitement about the drone light show, highlighting it as a major draw for BIWF this year. He emphasized that the infusion of such captivating and unique ideas, coupled with water sports events and entertainment, aims to attract a larger influx of tourists and visitors to this annual water fest extravaganza.
Shri Riyas is scheduled to inaugurate BIWF at 6:30 pm, an event organized by the Department of Tourism in collaboration with the District Administration and District Tourism Promotion Council. The main activities of the festival will unfold at Beypore Marina Beach, Kozhikode Beach, Chaliyam, and Nallur, with additional programs strategically planned across the city to appeal to both international and domestic tourists.
BIWF boasts a diverse array of attractions, including cultural programs, a mega food festival, adventure sports activities, and the opportunity to explore Navy and Coast Guard ships. The festival will also showcase an international kite fest featuring participants from five countries, a dinghy boat race, fly board demos, surf ski demos, flea markets, paramotoring, sailing regattas, and net throwing.
Situated six kilometers south of Kozhikode, Beypore holds historical significance as a pre-colonial port, serving as a vital link in maritime trade with West Asia.
