Today, All Nippon Airways (ANA) unveiled its latest venture—a partnership with ABB for the acquisition of fast chargers designated for ground support equipment (GSE) at Tokyo Haneda airport. ANA Group has integrated ABB’s “Terra CE 54 CJG” fast charger into its charging facility, marking a milestone as the first installation of such rapid charging technology within an airport’s restricted area.
This cutting-edge fast charger is designed to accommodate three charging standards: the Japanese CHAdeMO standard, international standards (AC standard and DC CCS 2), and is future-proofed for upcoming electric vehicle models. Its track record of successful deployment and usage in charging electric GSE vehicles across global airports underscores its reliability.
In alignment with ANA Group’s dedication to carbon neutrality, not only through measures concerning aircraft, such as the introduction of Sustainable Aviation Fuel, but also through embracing innovative technologies, the airline is set to incorporate these advancements into both ground and flight operations.
Rintaro Sohara, Vice President of Ground Handling Planning at ANA, emphasized, “As part of ANA Group’s commitment to sustainability, our collaboration with ABB to install fast chargers at Haneda Airport stands as a testament to our unwavering pursuit of sustainability goals and our climate transition strategy.”
Masayasu Ishikawa, Commercial Leader of ABB Electrification in Japan, echoed this sentiment, expressing delight in providing charging solutions for ANA Group’s electric GSE vehicles. Ishikawa added, “Through our e-mobility solutions, we are dedicated to supporting ANA Group’s decarbonization objectives and, ultimately, advancing the efforts toward decarbonizing airports.”
