Under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member, and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, the 17th Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon is set to unfold on Saturday, February 24, 2024. Hosted by the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), the event introduces a novel route on Al Marjan Island and debuts its inaugural 10km Road Race.
Featuring the participation of elite long-distance athletes in the 21.1km race, alongside thousands of runners in the associated 10km or 2km runs, this edition marks the first inclusion of a 10km race—an ideal precursor for those aspiring to tackle the half marathon. The race unfolds on the roads of Al Marjan Island, a premier destination comprising four coral-shaped islands in a man-made archipelago.
Raki Phillips, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, expressed excitement about the iconic event’s new date, highlighting its global standing and impact on Ras Al Khaimah. The race is already drawing attention from world-class athletes gearing up for the London Marathon and the Paris Olympics.
Peter Connerton, Managing Director of Pace Events and Race Director of the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon, emphasized the honor of organizing this prominent UAE sporting and social event. With the addition of a 10km Road Race and the Corporate Challenge for team competition, organizers aim to elevate race day, ensuring the event remains a magnet for the world’s elite distance runners.
