Japan Airlines Co., Ltd., under the leadership of President and Group CEO Yuji Akasaka, has reached a significant milestone by becoming Japan’s pioneer airline to register as a TNFD Adopter, aligning with the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD). This move showcases the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
In the timeline of achievements, Japan Airlines participated in the TNFD Forum in March 2023 and subsequently, in August 2023, emerged as the first Japanese airline to proactively disclose information in accordance with TNFD recommendations. Looking ahead, JAL pledges to further fortify its disclosure practices based on the finalized recommendations released in September of that year. The airline aims to amplify its efforts in attaining Nature Positive, collaborating with fellow early adopters to expedite the realization of this initiative.
The company’s proactive stance is evident in its participation in various conservation activities. JAL Group has been actively engaged in safeguarding species by combatting illegal wildlife trade, ensuring ecosystem preservation through stringent plant quarantine measures, and preserving natural resources in World Natural Heritage sites. These endeavors underscore JAL’s unwavering commitment to bequeathing a thriving Earth to future generations.
JAL is resolute in intensifying its ongoing endeavors to achieve Nature Positive. The company aspires to actively contribute to creating a society where the synergy between nature and humanity is harmonious through its operational activities.
