A rental service for clothing wears, known as ‘Any Wear, Anywhere’, has recently been initiated by JAL(Japan Airlines). This rental facility has been initiated in partnership with Sumitomo, tending to business travellers and tourists on flights of Japan Airlines.
Initially this rental facility will be launched as a trial service till the time period of August 2024, during which, passengers will be able to choose their desired outfits as per convenience.
The clothing selection will have to be done online beforehand and the collection will include wide ranges of outfits, from formals to casual wears as per occasion and size availability.
Once clothing selection is finalized, the rented clothes will then be shipped to Airbnb or hotel accommodations for the and shall be collected afterward, to be washed and recycled.
JAL is aiming to encourage sustainable and eco-friendly choices along with a stable economy through its clothing rental facility. As an attempt to reduce waste, sourcing of the clothing wears is to be obtained from pre- owned garments and excess clothing stock.
Furthermore, JAL is also looking for steps to observe the decrease in emission of harmful gases such as Carbon Dioxide by monitoring the weight difference in aircrafts when passengers travel with fewer bags.
