In 2023, Austrian Airlines excelled in operations, outdoing 2022’s performance despite challenges, and cementing its punctuality in Europe.
Austrian Airlines concluded 2023 on a high note, showing remarkable operational success. Despite challenging geopolitical circumstances, the airline not only matched its impressive 2022 performance but exceeded it.
The airline, renowned for its timeliness in Europe, not only upheld its punctuality in 2023 but enhanced it further. An impressive 99% of Austrian Airlines’ flights operated as scheduled in the past year. Additionally, the airline advanced its fleet modernization, incorporating four A320neos. This demonstrates the airline’s commitment to reliable global air travel from Vienna, a fact mirrored in a 25% increase in passenger bookings compared to the previous year. COO Francesco Sciortino noted the trust passengers have in Austrian Airlines’ hospitality.
Austrian Airlines led the European market in 2023, achieving a 98.9% regularity rate and boosting punctuality to about 80%. The airline maintained its status as one of Europe’s most timely carriers. In 2022, it was the 5th most punctual airline, but in 2023, it consistently ranked at the top, even securing the 1st position in Europe for three months. COO Francesco Sciortino highlighted the upcoming year’s focus on introducing the first Boeing 787 and expanding long-haul routes. The airline aims to remain a top performer in Europe. This modernization effort will present passengers with cutting-edge aircraft and contribute to a reduced carbon footprint. Austrian Airlines has begun updating its short and medium-haul fleet, currently in the process of acquiring its fifth A320neo. Additionally, plans are underway to modernize the long-haul fleet in 2024, aiming to cut fuel consumption by 20% per passenger per 100 kilometers, compared to current long-haul aircraft.
