Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport sees tourist surge

With the joyful time enduring to witness improved travel all through India, Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), saw an increase in passenger movements with an aggregate of 516,562 passenger movements throughout the Diwali weekend from 11th to 13th November this year.


CSMIA also attained an extraordinary breakthrough by making a new peak single-day record of 1,032 Air Traffic Movements (ATMs) on 11th November this year, beating the earlier high of 1,004 ATMs made on 09th December in 2018.


This Diwali proved promising for numerous causes for CSMIA, with the passengers relishing the prolonged break over the Diwali weekend. A total of 516,562 passenger movement from CSMIA comprised 354,541 travelers touring on local routes while 162,021 toured globally on this Diwali. CSMIA served more than 2,894 ATMs with 2,137 local flights and 757 flights on global directions. From the general tourist activities seen between 11th to 13th Nov, the topmost places considering local passengers comprised Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai. Globally, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, London and Singapore comprised the places.


Attaining a top single day ATM of 1,032, CSMIA served a total of 161,419 travelers on 11th November, seeing a considerable arrival with 107,765 local and 53,680 global tourists.


This landmark reveals CSMIA’s ability to deal with augmented air transportation with accuracy while preserving great levels of safety, confidence and passenger facility.
