As the year swiftly passes, Denver International Airport (DEN) is poised to soar into 2024, reflecting on a year marked by achievements, milestones, and opportunities. Notable highlights include:
DEN’s Air Service Network:
July 2023 witnessed record-breaking passenger traffic, making it the busiest month ever at DEN. The introduction of new nonstop services to Dublin and San Juan, Puerto Rico, alongside other domestic destinations, further enhanced DEN’s connectivity.
Great Hall Progress:
As 2023 nears its end, DEN is adding the final touches to the Level 6 West Security Checkpoint, scheduled to officially open on Feb. 6, 2024. This checkpoint, equipped with advanced technology and featuring 17 screening lanes, is part of the ongoing Great Hall Project, with the East Security Checkpoint slated for completion by the end of 2025.
Completion Phase:
While the West Security Checkpoint takes center stage in 2023, progress continues on the Completion Phase of the Great Hall Program. The transformation of the northeast corner of Level 6 into a state-of-the-art security checkpoint, set to open by the end of 2025, represents a significant milestone.
Center of Equity and Excellence in Aviation Groundbreaking:
On Dec. 13, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Center of Equity and Excellence in Aviation marked a historic commitment to inclusivity and workforce sustainability. This 66,000-square-foot facility on Level 4 of the Hotel and Transit Center aims to foster talent and inclusivity.
New Food and Lounge Options:
DEN welcomed new dining options and lounges, including Half Moon Empanadas, The House of LR&C, and Plaza Premium Lounge, enhancing the traveler experience.
Our Green Mission:
DEN’s commitment to environmental sustainability is evident through initiatives such as the recognition of its sustainable fleet operations and the capping of 64 oil and gas wells across airport property.
New AGTS Cars:
The arrival of new train cars from Alstom marks the beginning of upgrades to the train system, providing enhanced transportation between the Terminal and Concourses.
Growing our Infrastructure:
The ribbon-cutting ceremony for Taxiway EE, the largest airport safety project funded by the FAA, showcases DEN’s commitment to safety and efficiency.
DEN Revenue Bonds:
In November, DEN successfully refinanced $628 million of its airport revenue bonds, saving over $46 million over the next two decades. The transaction set a historic precedent for being led by a Minority or Women-owned Business Enterprise (MWBE).
DEN Economic Impact:
An updated Economic Impact Report highlighted DEN’s substantial contribution of over $36.4 billion to Colorado’s economy and support for over 220,000 jobs. The Vision 100 strategic plan anticipates a near doubling of economic impact by 2032.
Outstanding Operations:
DEN’s consistent compliance with FAA regulations, as evidenced by the annual certification inspection with zero findings, reflects its commitment to operational excellence.
Enhancing the Customer Experience:
Initiatives such as the introduction of Airport Customer Experience Specialists, DEN Reserve program, JetSet Jamz Concert Series, DEN Travel Assist, and the launch of the ADA WCAG 2.1 compliant FlyDenver.com website underscore DEN’s dedication to enhancing the passenger experience.
As we bid farewell to the year, DEN expresses gratitude to passengers and the community for their support, wishing everyone a Happy New Year!
