In early January, Tenney Mountain Resort is gearing up to host the thrilling KaBoom X Freestyle Snowmobile & MX Sports show. Presented by Pacifico and supported by Tenney Mountain and Pepsi, this exclusive event stands as the sole of its kind in New England. Spectators will witness awe-inspiring displays of high-flying snowmobiles and FMX bikes executing jaw-dropping stunts, flips, and tricks— a spectacle reminiscent of the nationally televised X Games but with the added thrill of a live, in-person experience.
Founder of KaBoom, Joe Duncan, offers a glimpse into the excitement, stating, “Anticipate the presence of some of the finest riders in action sports, descending upon the slopes of Tenney to push the boundaries for their passion. These daredevil athletes will be soaring distances of 75-90 feet and reaching heights of 35-45 feet on machines typically seen navigating trails in New Hampshire, but in a manner unparalleled to the norm.”
Mark your calendars for the event on Friday and Saturday, January 5-6. The gates open at 5:30 pm for the 7 pm show, followed by an athlete meet & greet in the base lodge from 8:30 to 9 pm. Geared towards families, ticket prices are family-friendly at $20 per person, and kids 12 and under get in for free. While on-site parking is free, attendees are encouraged to carpool due to the high demand for tickets. Throughout the event, all base lodge operations, including food & beverage services, will be fully operational.
Dan Egan, Tenney’s General Manager, expresses enthusiasm for this event and hints at more high-profile events in the future. He emphasizes the ongoing investment in the resort, transforming it into a four-season operation. Egan summarizes Tenney’s ethos with, “Go big or go home,” underlining that this is just the beginning of their ambitious plans.
Established in 1960 by World War II veteran Sam Hall, Tenney Mountain Resort remains an independent, family-centric mountain providing a grand mountain experience at affordable rates. Nestled on 184 acres, the resort boasts 1,650 vertical feet of skiing and riding, with 3 lifts servicing 47 trails of varying difficulty. The recently renovated New England-style base lodge is home to the lively Backcountry Bar & Grill, hosting an array of community events, concerts, and functions.
