Nestled in the central Romanian mountains, Kempinski Hotels introduces its newest addition to the European landscape—a modern ski resort poised to redefine the allure of Poiana Brasov for intrepid travelers. Boasting 120 guestrooms, the Kempinski Poiana Brasov mountain resort is set to become the Transylvania region’s inaugural five-star hotel and the first Kempinski address in Romania.

This €70 million venture represents Rock Holding’s inaugural venture into luxury hospitality following their successful development of high-end residential projects in Bucharest.

Bernold Schroeder, CEO of Kempinski Group and Chairman of the Management Board of Kempinski AG, expresses excitement about the project, stating, “The mountains of Eastern Europe are some of the most spectacular in the world, and we are thrilled to have found a new home in the enchanting village of Poiana Brasov.” He envisions partnering with Rock Holding to elevate luxury standards in the region and deliver a true five-star experience for affluent travelers to Romania.

The main hotel will feature 120 lakeside rooms and suites, complemented by an expansive spa and wellness facility harnessing the therapeutic essence of the mountain landscape. Three dining venues will showcase the richness of Romanian and international cuisine. The hotel will also house a conference center and event spaces with breathtaking mountain views, offering a versatile setting for corporate events and summer weddings.

Beyond its sleek contemporary façade, the hotel promises a minimalist, naturalistic aesthetic, incorporating natural building materials, fluid organic lines, and interiors mirroring the Carpathian Mountains’ landscape.

Mircea Cotiga, CEO and Founder of Rock Holding, emphasizes Poiana Brasov’s development potential, envisioning Kempinski Poiana Brasov as a luxurious mountain retreat where guests can engage in a myriad of in-house facilities and outdoor activities. The hotel aims to provide a luxurious haven amid the Carpathian Mountains for those seeking a slice of paradise.

Poiana Brasov, serving as a gateway to Central Europe’s captivating landscapes, attracts outdoor enthusiasts year-round. Well-marked trails through spruce forests and wildflower-covered mountain meadows beckon hikers, cyclists, and horse riders in summer, while winter draws skiers and snowboarders from across Europe.

Bernold Schroeder notes the growing demand for holidays that immerse guests in nature, offering a canvas for active adventures. From winter ski holidays to adventurous summer escapes, Poiana Brasov caters to outdoor pursuits throughout the year.

Guests at Kempinski Poiana Brasov will enjoy direct access to nearly 24 kilometers of ski slopes on the Postăvarul Massif’s slopes, one of Central Europe’s picturesque wilderness areas. The nearby medieval city of Brasov, with its gothic churches and baroque townhouses, adds to the region’s allure. Moreover, guests can reach Romania’s must-see sights, including Bran Castle, Peles Castle, and Rasnov Fortress, within a 45-minute drive.

Conveniently served by direct flights from cities like Dubai, London, Brussels, Barcelona, Munich, Stuttgart, Tel Aviv, and Geneva, the new Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport is just a 30-minute drive from the hotel. For broader connectivity, Bucharest International Airport is reachable within 2.5 hours.
