Etihad Airways, the UAE’s national airline, and Maldivian have revealed an early holiday surprise for travelers by announcing a strategic bilateral interline partnership. This collaboration opens up access to 16 enchanting vacation destinations in the Maldives, extending beyond the main island of Malé.
The pact between Etihad and Maldivian, the Maldives’ national airline, enables guests to seamlessly traverse the Indian Ocean archipelago. Travelers can now enjoy the combined services and networks of both carriers through a single ticket.
Arik De, Chief Revenue Officer at Etihad, expressed, “This interline arrangement will enhance the overall customer experience throughout the entire journey. Those heading to the Maldives will benefit from the convenience of reaching their preferred holiday spots with greater ease. With smooth connections from Malé, Etihad customers can smoothly transition to Maldivian’s services, accessing a variety of domestic destinations to commence their idyllic island retreat.”
Ibrahim Hamdhan Mohamed, General Manager Commercial at Maldivian, noted, “In a bid to broaden Maldivian’s global reach, this interline partnership with Etihad Airways will create exciting opportunities for our valued customers to connect and travel seamlessly within our robust and expanding route network across the Maldives.”
Etihad customers now have access to Maldivian’s network, serving numerous sought-after islands through Velana International Airport in Malé. These include destinations such as Dharavandhoo Island, Faresmathoda Airport, Funadhoo Airport, Fuvahmulak Island Airport, Gan Island Airport, Kooddoo Island, Hanimaadhoo Island Airport, Kulhudhuffushi Airport, Hoarafushi Airport, Kaadedhdhoo Island Airport, Kadhdhoo Island, Madivaru Airport, Maafaru International Airport, Maavarulu Airport, Thimarafushi Airport, and Ifuru.
Starting January 1, 2024, Etihad plans to increase its weekly flights to Malé from 10 to 14, facilitating better connectivity with the Maldivian network.
This partnership also streamlines the process for customers to combine their dream vacation in the Maldives with a stopover in Abu Dhabi. This allows them to savor the renowned hospitality and remarkable attractions of the UAE’s capital.
The interline agreement with Maldivian is the latest addition to Etihad’s expanding network of partnerships with airlines worldwide, providing enhanced connectivity and convenience for its guests.
