Continued reinforcement of the regional fleet by the airline is contributing to the promotion of various regions in Portugal.
TAP Air Portugal recently designated one of its regional aircraft as “Sintra.” Situated approximately 25 kilometers from Lisbon, the captivating town of Sintra, renowned for its historical palaces and mythical gardens, stands as a favored destination for tourists exploring Portugal, exuding a magical and romantic ambiance. In celebration of this naming, a symbolic ceremony took place at Sintra Town Hall, where Bruno Parreira, the Deputy Mayor, received a model of the aircraft from Mário Lobato de Faria, the Managing Director of Portugália. The chosen aircraft, an Embraer 195 with the registration CS-TAW, adds a distinct touch to TAP’s ongoing initiative.
This endeavor by TAP follows the “Embracing Portugal” project introduced in 2017 during the company’s anniversary. By expanding Portugália’s fleet into new regions, each named after the 18 districts and two autonomous regions of Portugal, TAP continues to play a pivotal role in promoting the country and its diverse regions. This involves active collaboration in showcasing the unique culture, gastronomy, and heritage of each region, thereby strengthening connections with the local communities.
Operating under the TAP Express brand for short and medium-haul flights, Portugália currently boasts a fleet of 19 aircraft. This comprises 12 Embraer 190s, accommodating 106 passengers, and seven Embraer 195s, with a capacity for 118 passengers. The inclusion of Embraer 190 and 195 aircraft in the regional fleet signifies a significant increase in available seats and underscores TAP’s commitment to fuel efficiency.
