The Norwegian Star has recently made its debut in South America, marking the commencement of Norwegian Cruise Line’s 2023-24 operations in the region.
Running until April, the local program presents diverse itineraries encompassing Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, the Falkland Islands, Chile, and Antarctica.
Following its summer stint in Northern Europe, the 2,200-guest vessel arrived in Brazil at the start of December.
Before concluding its repositioning journey in Rio de Janeiro, the Star explored various destinations within the country, including Recife, Maceió, Salvador, and Búzios.
Continuing its voyage towards the Southern tip of the continent, the ship also hosted a ten-night cruise traversing Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay in mid-December.
This one-way cruise embarked from Rio de Janeiro to Buenos Aires, making stops at Búzios, Ilha Grande, Ilhabela, Santos, Balneário Camboriú, Punta del Este, and Montevideo.
Upon reaching Buenos Aires, the Norwegian Star initiated a series of regular cruises to Argentina, Antarctica, Uruguay, and the Falkland Islands.
The 16-night cruise features visits to several destinations in the region, including Puerto Madryn, Punta Arenas, Port Stanley, and Punta del Este.
Before returning to Buenos Aires, the Norwegian Star also plans to explore Elephant Island and other parts of Antarctica for a few days.
Following further itineraries in the region, the vessel, built in 2001, is slated to return to Europe by mid-April through a transatlantic crossing starting in Rio de Janeiro and concluding in Lisbon, Portugal.
Alongside the Star, Norwegian Cruise Line’s 2023-24 South American program includes the Norwegian Sun.
From January to early March, the vessel is set to offer a series of cruises to the Andes, Patagonia, and Tierra del Fuego, featuring visits to destinations in Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and the Falkland Islands.
