The Future Travel Coalition is urging travel enterprises to participate in its latest survey focusing on bookings and business-related concerns. This survey is a routine initiative undertaken by the group to collect anonymized evidence that supports the coalition’s lobbying efforts with both the Government and opposition parties.
Covering various aspects such as recruitment, booking trends in comparison to 2019, and access to borrowing/finance, the survey aims to provide valuable insights. Businesses affiliated with the coalition are encouraged to contribute, and the deadline for responses is set for Friday, December 8. Access to the survey can be found here.
The Coalition emphasizes the significance of presenting evidence on the UK travel industry’s value to government officials, MPs, and prospective MPs. With considerations for the upcoming General Election, the Coalition believes that having substantial evidence is crucial for shaping the positioning of political parties.
Luke Petherbridge, Director of Public Affairs at ABTA – The Travel Association, highlighted the importance of collaboration with politicians across parties. He stressed the need to showcase the travel industry’s potential for significant economic growth, especially in the post-pandemic recovery period. Petherbridge acknowledged the sector’s resilience and positive outlook for the upcoming year but emphasized the ongoing challenges faced by businesses dealing with pandemic-induced debt. He underscored the critical role of input from travel agents and tour operators in providing valuable data for the survey, emphasizing its impact on influencing political discussions and decisions.
