Eurostar, the high-speed rail service connecting Europe, is excited to kick off the bustling Christmas season with the departure of the inaugural Eurostar Snow service from London on Saturday, December 16, headed for the French Alps.
The environmentally conscious journey to the slopes has gained popularity among eco-conscious travelers, with more than half of the tickets sold within the first week. This winter, over 4,000 travelers are expected to use the service through Lille.
Anticipating a high demand during the festive season, Eurostar projects that over 600,000 passengers will travel along its London routes from December 15, 2023, to January 7, 2024. The busiest days, such as Boxing Day and December 29, just before New Year, could see up to 35,000 passengers.
Eurostar’s Chief Commercial Officer, Francois Le Doze: “Our station teams look forward to welcoming travellers as they set off for the Alps and the festive season. We’re proud to see the first Eurostar Snow service leave St Pancras and to offer a sustainable travel option to the slopes via Lille. Travellers departing from London St Pancras this winter may also be treated to a sneak-peak of Santa as his visits the station during the Christmas holidays.”
Passengers leaving London and wanting to get further into the Christmas spirit can enjoy an array of carol singers throughout the month and even make a visit to the big man himself at the St Pancras Grotto. Those looking to give the gift of travel can purchase Eurostar gift vouchers from £25 – £500
