San Marino Old Town sparkles with holiday joy until Jan 7. Enjoy markets, concerts, and family fun, with special New Year Eve celebrations!
Even though the festive season of Christmas has concluded, the enchantment of the holiday spirit still illuminates the streets and plazas of San Marino’s historic center. The “The Christmas of Wonders – A Sweeter World” event is ongoing daily up to January 7th, from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, with an exception on January 1, 2024, when the festivities will commence at 2:30 PM.
The excitement for the New Year is mounting, especially for the “Hearts in the Plaza: A Sweeter New Year!” celebration. Starting around 10:00 PM, Piazzale Lo Stradone will transform into a vibrant stage for family-friendly New Year’s Eve festivities. The evening kicks off with the comedic antics of renowned TV mimic Antonio Mezzancella, followed by the dynamic Showzer Party Band, fronted by the Gingerbread Man. This year, they return with a live concert and an electrifying dance group to inject the plaza with rhythm and vigor. Also, DJ Mr. Lory G. will set the mood, and at midnight, there will be a celebratory toast with sparkling wine and slices of pandoro or panettone.
A beloved tradition in San Marino is the New Year’s Concert, performed by the San Marino Military Band under the direction of Lt. M° Stefano Gatta. On January 1st at 5:00 PM, they will return to the Titano Theater, presenting a musical homage to Walt Disney movie soundtracks.
Until January 7th, don’t miss the Christmas Markets along Via Eugippo and Via Donna Felicissima, the Chocolate Factory where Santa Claus can be met until December 31st, the Ice Park in Cava dei Balestrieri, the Dolce Mostra by renowned Pastry Chef Roberto Rinaldini, and the towering Big Tree in Piazzale Domus Plebis. A highlight is the House of Sweet Hearts in Piazza della Libertà, where every afternoon, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, the whimsical chocolatier will captivate audiences with a show full of lights, sounds, and special effects, every half hour. Additionally, the buildings around the plaza will be adorned with spectacular Christmas projections, enhancing the uniqueness of the event.
The Festive Delights celebration will continue to bring extraordinary attractions and performances to San Marino’s historic heart until January 7th.
