With the arrival of the cruise ship Norwegian Dawn today, the well-known Norwegian Cruise Line made its first visit to Qatar and the larger Gulf region. Qatar Tourism and its strategic partners welcomed the ship.

The Norwegian Dawn cruise ship anchored at Doha Port in a ceremony hosted by Qatar Tourism for the 2023-24 cruise season, which began in late October in Qatar.

Arabic calligraphy art, sadu weaving, henna, dhow souvenirs, and net making for disembarking passengers were all featured at the welcome ceremony.

The ship can accommodate 2,340 passengers in addition to 1,032 members of the operating crew.

Passengers can visit neighbouring attractions in Doha, such as the Mina District, Souq Waqif, the National Museum of Qatar, and more, during the ship’s two-night anchorage.

His Excellency, Mr. Saad Bin Ali Al Kharji, who is also the Chairman of Qatar Tourism, told the media that the pioneering arrival relating to the Norwegian Dawn as well as its regional debut happen to be a significant milestone concerning Qatar’s growing cruise tourism sector that marks Qatar’s international appeal pertaining to a cruise destination.

Overtaking the 54 cruises and 253,191 visitors of the 2022–2023 cruise season, Qatar Tourism anticipates welcoming 79 cruises and 350,000 passengers in 2023–2024. Passengers are greeted at the newly constructed cruise terminal, which is near the major tourist attractions and features an aquarium.

In the rapidly expanding field of cruise tourism, Qatar has emerged as a prominent global destination. Qatar has gained significant recognition for its alluring attractions and strategic location, rendering it a highly sought-after travel destination for both cruise operators and travellers.
