Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, the first low-cost carrier in the capital, celebrated the launch of its inaugural flight to Bandaranaike International Airport. This budget-friendly airline will connect the UAE’s capital to Colombo, offering three weekly flights on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Adel Al Ali, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia, expressed his delight, stating, “We are pleased to announce the commencement of our flights from Abu Dhabi to Colombo. We have recently relocated our Abu Dhabi operations to Terminal A, a state-of-the-art facility at Abu Dhabi International Airport. This launch underscores our dedication to providing seamless travel experiences for passengers and contributing to the growth of the travel and tourism sectors in both nations.”
Maureen Bannerman, Chief Commercial Officer at Abu Dhabi Airports, also commented on the announcement, saying, “We are thrilled to join forces with our partners, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, in introducing this new route connecting Abu Dhabi to the vibrant capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo. This marks a new destination for Air Arabia Abu Dhabi and underscores the airline’s ongoing expansion, offering more travel options to and from Abu Dhabi.”
