Morocco’s tourism promotion office ONMT signed deals with Asian tourism professionals and operators in a push to showcase Morocco’s attractions and attract more arrivals.
The deals aim to double flights from Gulf airports, a key hub connecting Morocco to the rest of Asia and Australia.
The ONMT also agreed with Wego group, a search engine based in Singapore and Dubai, to promote Morocco destination in Asian tourism emitting markets.
It likewise signed a partnership with Cozmo Travel which operates 90 travel agencies in India, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
As part of preparations for the World Cup 2030 to which Morocco, Spain and Portugal are jointly bidding, ONMT signed a deal with Nirvana Travel and Tourism to hold training sessions for operators in India, Morocco as well as Spain and Portugal.
ONMT also plans to promote Morocco destination in Japan through a deal with Miki travel, a major Asian tour operator.
To bring to Morocco Australian tourists, ONMT signed a partnership with a travel group, which specializes in organizing nature and adventure trips.
The deals were signed on the sidelines of the Arabian Travel Market, held last week in Dubai, with the participation of major tour operators in Asia and beyond.
Morocco announced a road map worth 6.1 billion Dirhams (590 million dollars) to attract 17.5 million tourists and 12 billion dollars in tourism receipts by 2026.
The sector has turned the page on the pandemic with arrivals increasing to 11 million in 2022, that is a recovery rate of 84% compared with 2019.
