The President of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA), Pablo Torres, said that the region will experience a faster comeback of visitors compared to other parts of the world.
Torres said that tourism return to the region would be “faster than in many parts of the world,” which is due to the protocols for lessening the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic in the region.
Torres stressed that tourism is pivotal for economic recovery of the Caribbean area since it is a sector providing livelihood for thousands of people, like in the Dominican Republic, where tourism supports around 300 jobs.
Torres also said that tourism involves the inflow of income that is important for fiscal balances of the Caribbean governments.
He assured that tourists’ arrival would make them validate that the Caribbean is the best place in the world to get back from the ravages of this pandemic. It will also authenticate that they have worked hard to fight Covid-19.
