The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) has unveiled the winners and finalists of the CHIEF 2023 Awards, announced during the annual CHIEF event in Miami, FL, from November 29 to December 1, 2023. These awards commend exceptional achievements in the Caribbean hospitality industry.
The CHIEF Awards recognize outstanding practices in five key areas within the CHTA member hotels and tourism-related enterprises: Environmental Sustainability, Innovative Sales and Marketing, People (Staff) Development and Support, Social Responsibility, and Tech Transformation.
In the Environmental Sustainability category, Grenada’s True Blue Bay Boutique Resort secured the top CHIEF Award for its remarkable dedication to eco-friendly practices, including a Biogas Digester project and a commitment to zero plastic waste. Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort in Aruba, a hall-of-fame awardee, tied for runner-up with St. Lucia’s Jade Mountain.
St. Lucia’s Bay Gardens Resorts claimed the first place in the Innovative Sales and Marketing category, achieving a 40% YTD increase in booking engine revenue through innovative digital marketing tools. Antigua & Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association excelled in People Development and Support, while The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and its digital agency Tambourine won in the Social Responsibility category. GuestChat earned the top position in the Tech Transformation category.
CHTA President Nicola Madden-Greig expressed gratitude to CHIEF sponsors and celebrated the winners for their contributions to the hospitality industry’s excellence and innovation. Bill Clegg, CHIEF Program Chair, emphasized the transformative power of innovation, sustainability, and commitment to people and community in the industry. Congratulations were extended to all the winners and finalists.
