Jordan witnesses 50 percent rise in tourists

In terms of tourist inflow, the tourism sector of Jordan has registered a 50 percent rise to 3 million people.

This happened between January and July, as per the recent government data.    


Faisal Shboul, Minister of Government Communications, Jordan, said that the Kingdom in the first seven months of 2023 welcomed over 3 million tourists, pinpointing an increase of over 50 percent, as tourism revenues have risen by almost 60 percent compared in the same time 2022.


Jordanian Shboul, who is the official spokesperson for the government as well, unveiled these data at the time of the second annual conference.

This conference had the title – “The Role of the Media in Achieving Sustainable Development in the Tourism Sector.” 


To the total gross domestic product of Jordan, tourism contributes 14.6 percent and employs around 57,000 people directly, the minister explained. 


Organized by the Redan Association in partnership with Tourism Regional Authority, Petra Development, and the Toronto Academy, this two-day event is aimed to deal with the challenges related to sustainable development and their connection to tourism while highlighting media’s main role in this dynamic field. 


The country in the first half of 2023, recorded $3.45 billion rise in terms of revenues which marked a 59.4 percent growth.
