Over the age of 14 years, all visitors from now on will have to pay the charge and book in advance their entry to the city of Venice.

Simone Venturini, the city council tourism member, says that the trial of this new launch will run at the peak periods in tourist from next year. In Europe, Venice is among the most visited cities, so it suffers the most from over tourism menace, he said. For Venice, excess tourism is extensively recognized as an immediate issue to take a look.

In terms of size, Venice city is just 7.6 sq kms however, it in 2019, it welcomed almost 13 million tourists, as per the statistics of the Italian national institute. In the upcoming years, visitor numbers are hoped to surpass the levels of pre- pandemic times.

The main purpose is to request daily tourists to select days that are not crowded, Mr. Venturini said. For overnight stay in Venice, tourists will be exempted.

They want to test and, if required, improve the thing. They cannot talk for yet another 40 years to decide what’s best.

Unesco, earlier this year said that the city should get a place in the list of world heritage sites that are in danger.
