Global Hotel Alliance (GHA), the largest alliance of independent hotel brands in the world, has recently unveiled the list of the most popular destinations for the upcoming year and what is inspiring travellers to visit them.
Japan and Thailand top the list. Spain, Canada and Hawaii follow them, a study of its GHA DISCOVERY loyalty program of the members found the above data, with the wish to explore new destinations with experiences, a key motivation behind the decisions of travel.
For 2024, Europe has arisen as the most desirable region to visit as staycations are booming in Asia, headed by members in China. In China, they are planning more than five on average. Thailand and Malaysia follow with more than four.
Similar to the analysis of 2022, GHA DISCOVERY members’ travel plans are mainly motivated by leisure. All over the region’s most respondents on average are preparing to take no more than one business trip and 2-4 relaxed holidays.
Also, the strong revival of the outbound travel sector of Asia is clear, once again led by China. Here, on an average, members have six to seven leisure trips planned closely followed by Hong Kong, Thailand and Germany.
