Edmund Bartlett, the Tourism Minister of Jamaica is requesting the formation of a worldwide tourism flexibility fund for supporting tourism-reliant countries during times of disturbances.
The call came in the midst of last week when Jamaica organized the Global Tourism Resilience Conference in Kingston.
Bartlett said that while we often talk about creating pliability for tourism, there is a need to focus on the wider viewpoint on social, political, health, economic, and security disturbances. Minister Bartlett has led Jamaica’s resilience drive, including the building of an international tourism resilience center. That center, which was unique in its own way, was formed in 2019.
Minister Bartlett said that the biggest priority is to create ability to forecast, alleviate and tackle commotions when they arise, as well as recuperate quickly and flourish afterward.
The Minister spoke about creating the possibility for a voluntary flexibility tip from the almost 1.4 billion travelers from all over the world.
