After temporarily shuttering in early November due to the risk of volcanic activity, Iceland‘s Blue Lagoon geothermal spa will reopen select facilities this weekend.
The popular tourist site had initially announced plans to close through Nov. 30.
But extended the shutdown into this month as safety concerns around seismic activity remained ongoing.
Starting Dec. 17, Blue Lagoon will begin welcoming back visitors, as will the attraction’s Blue Café, Lava Restaurant, Retreat Spa, Spa Restaurant and on-site store.
The Iceland‘s spa’s operating hours, however, have shifted to 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
The last seating times at the Lava Restaurant and Spa Restaurant will be at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
The site’s Silica and Retreat hotels will remain closed until at least Dec. 21, at which time “the situation will be reassessed,” according to a statement posted on Blue Lagoon’s website.
The spa also said that its decision to reopen most facilities “was made in close collaboration with local authorities,” and that the Blue Lagoon’s infrastructure remains in “excellent condition,” with buildings sustaining “only minor damage.”
