Air France-KLM Group and Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, have unveiled a new collaboration between their loyalty programs, building on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in September 2023.
Under this fresh partnership, members of Flying Blue, the loyalty program of Air France and KLM, and Etihad Guest, Etihad Airways’ loyalty program, can now earn and redeem Miles on either program when traveling with Air France, KLM, or Etihad. Additional reciprocal benefits for elite members will be disclosed in the near future.
Since the MoU was signed earlier this year, customers of Air France-KLM and Etihad Airways now have access to connect and accrue or redeem miles on over 60 new routes spanning global destinations.
Flying Blue Miles can be utilized for various benefits such as flights, worldwide hotel stays, car rentals, or products from the Flying Blue Store. Similarly, Etihad Guest Miles can be spent on flights, global hotel stays, vacations, or products from the Etihad Guest Reward Shop.
Air France currently operates daily flights between Paris – Charles de Gaulle and Abu Dhabi International Airport, while Etihad runs daily flights to both Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Schiphol from Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Angus Clarke, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Air France-KLM, expressed his satisfaction with the extended partnership, emphasizing its expansion into loyalty opportunities and route network enhancements for customers globally. He highlighted Abu Dhabi’s appeal as a destination and hub, powered by Etihad’s extensive footprint in South and Southeast Asia, as well as Australia.
Arik De, Chief Revenue Officer at Etihad, echoed the sentiment, stating that the collaboration benefits the loyal guests of both airlines. Etihad Guest Members can now earn and redeem miles when flying with Air France-KLM, providing more opportunities to enjoy the program’s perks. He also looks forward to welcoming Flying Blue members to the expanding Etihad network.
