David Collado, the Minister of Tourism, Dominican Republic, has recently requested the opposition not to make tourism a political affair in the Dominican Republic, highlighting that the industry at present accounts for 60% of the financial development of the country.
Collado explained that on tourism, his target remains unwavering and by the end of 2023, his main aim is to draw close to 10 million tourists.
He stated that from this matter, they will not get sidetracked in any way. Tourism is powerful, solid, and always growing, said Collado.
He emphasized that in new hotels, the important investments which have been made, with construction in progress, and highlighted the commitment of the government to encourage such efforts and activities.
Collado promised that his management will carry on prioritizing the sector in the Dominican Republic, just as the way he did in his term as a mayor. He highlighted the meaning of trust and the evasion of politicizing the sector, emphasizing that the opposition has understood the problem.
After the launch of the fourth edition of Turizoneando, Collado made these remarks. It’s a cultural activity program that is taking place in the Colonial City as part of the Tourism in Every Corner project.
The minister also highlighted the implication of tourism in advertising the Colonial City as a tourist hotspot and stressed current investments by the Ministry.
