With the return of the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s (HKTB) annual “Hong Kong WinterFest” this winter, Hong Kong will be transformed into a festive wonderland. The city will be aglow with holiday cheer from November 24, 2023, to January 1, 2024, with the much-anticipated “Winter Harbourfront Pyrotechnics” lighting up the skyline for three weekends and Christmas holidays beginning December 9.
The “Winter Harbourfront Pyrotechnics” is a spectacular 10-minute spectacle set against Victoria Harbour. On December 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 25, and 26, stunning Christmas icons such as trees and gift boxes will light up the night. Don’t miss the renowned “HK” monogram, which is making a triumphant comeback to Victoria Harbour and promises spectacular photo possibilities along the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade.
The re-emergence of the iconic enormous Christmas tree in the Harbourside Lawn West of Art Park in the West Kowloon Cultural District adds to the festive spectacular. The tree, which stands 20 meters tall and has sparkling lights and a star tree topper, gives a touch of magic to the Victoria Harbour skyline. Explore the newly redesigned Christmas Town, which includes “LOVE” installations, stylish Christmas trees, and charming reindeer. Keep an eye out for Santa’s unexpected visits to the giftbox-shaped Christmas house.
The West Kowloon Cultural District will offer its first-ever open-air Christmas Market at the Great Lawn, Art Park, with 25 specialized stalls, unique F&B, live entertainment, and festive goodies for pets.
With these holiday attractions, Hong Kong expects to eclipse 30 million yearly visitor arrivals. Mr. Dane Cheng, Executive Director of the HKTB, expressed confidence in reaching this milestone, citing the success of prior events as well as the city’s rich Christmas ambiance.
