Egypt is looking to double the amount of visitors to the nation in the course of upcoming five years, according to its top tourism representative.
Egypt is targeting touching 30 million tourists by 2028, with its once-flourishing tourism segment getting back from the outcome of the pandemic and the relentless war in Europe after Russia’s attack on Ukraine, said Ahmed Issa, the Egyptian Tourism and Antiquities Minister.
Issa said that they are witnessing unmatched demand, and extraordinary demand for travel travelling to Egypt.
He said that Egypt witnessed 10 million tourists during the initial eight months of this year, and is heading in the right direction to attain about 15 million this year, which is all set to be a record-setting year for the
tourism segment.
The tourism segment is a principal source of overseas money for the cash-strapped Egypt.
In 2022, tourism incomes increased to $10.7 billion, surging from approximately $5 billion in 2021, said the Egyptian central bank.
The Egyptian government’s strategy centers on what the minister calls the ‘supply side,’ which comprises
growing the amount of hotel rooms in Egypt and places on flights to Egypt by over 30% yearly, along with boosting more private funding in the tourism segment.
Issa said that they would increase 25,000 hotel rooms to Egypt’s present volume of around 210,000.
He said that an increase like this would benefit the government attain its objective of 18 million tourist stopovers in 2024.
