In 2022 all over the country, the Indian travel sector and tourist activity increased after a Covid-induced decline started in 2021.
Information from the Union tourism ministry highlights the fact that visits in terms of domestic tourists in all of India in 2022 came at 1,731 million compared to 677 million the year before. In the same way, the year witnessed 8.5 million tourist visits from abroad compared to around 1 million in 2021.
In Tamil Nadu, international tourism in 2022 was at sixth position, drawing around 0.4 million international tourists compared to 57,622 in 2021.
In case of domestic tourism, Tamil Nadu was at second position. International Chess Olympiad and various another business events and sports meets augmented the increase in numbers.
