Save big this school break! The City of Moreton Bay is offering a variety of cost-effective and free activities for all ages to savor this summer.

Mayor Peter Flannery assures there’s a plethora of entertainment options, from craft sessions and energetic escapades to children’s clubs and delightful family outings.

“Explore our fantastic city without breaking the bank with budget-friendly events in our specialized venues, parks, waterways, and playgrounds,” he urged.

The Active Holidays program, scheduled from January 8-21, is now open for reservations. This program features a diverse array of adventure, sports, and nature activities. Kids and teens aged 3 to 17 can indulge in surfing lessons, outdoor cooking experiences, and high ropes challenges, all overseen by certified and seasoned instructors.

Local parks are set to host skateboarding workshops, hip hop classes, and various sports activities like AFL and golf, ensuring there’s something for everyone nearby.

Moreover, there’s a gamut of experiences awaiting at galleries, museums, libraries, environmental centers, and sporting facilities.

Here are the top five stimulating summer school holiday events and activities across Moreton Bay to combat boredom:

  1. Active Holidays: Rev up the fun with an assortment of free and low-cost activities aimed at keeping kids active and healthy. Bookings available now.
  2. Galleries and Museums Exploration: Escape the heat by exploring the six galleries or museums showcasing complimentary exhibitions. Dive into artist Martin Edge’s world at the Pine Rivers Art Gallery or venture to Bribie Island Seaside Museum’s latest exhibit, “Taking Flight,” to unravel the creative wonders of migratory shorebirds.
  3. Library Adventure: Rediscover the joy of reading through the Moreton Bay Libraries Summer Reading Club, open to all ages. Participate for a chance to win fabulous prizes and explore free holiday programs like Messy Play, Minecraft Club, LEGO creations, and more at any of the 10 library locations.
  4. Agents of Discovery: Engage with the Agents of Discovery, a free educational mobile app encouraging kids to explore the natural world. Discover missions at environmental centers like Kumbartcho, CREEC, and Kakadu Beach. CREEC also offers daily craft activities during the holidays.
  5. Morayfield Sport and Events Centre: Hone your skills with casual sports sessions including pickleball, badminton, table tennis, basketball, and volleyball throughout the holidays. Sessions are only $5 per person, with equipment available for rent at $5 per item. Contact the center to book available sessions today.
