Saudi Tourism Authority and Ant Group have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with an intention to introducing Alipay+. It’s a set of combined global mobile payment and marketing solutions, to Saudi Arabia, targeting to offer an unhindered mobile payment experience for tourists of Asia based in Saudi and beyond and to expand Alipay+’s global coverage further.
In regard to tourism rebound, the Middle East leads the world. Tourist arrivals in the region were 20% above the levels of pre-pandemic times, between January and July 2023, as per a report of the UN World Tourism Organization. Also, globally, cross-border travel is on an upsurge. The report says that about 700
million tourists travelled worldwide between January and July 2023.
The Chief Technology Officer at Saudi Tourism Authority, Choon Yang Quek said that they are quite thrilled to get associated with Ant Group to discover introducing their best industry-oriented technology to Saudi. Visitors to Saudi will have an all-in-one and integrated payment experience with the addition of
Alipay+, by using their acquainted methods of home payment while discovering new places. This new launch will help improve tourism growth of the sector in Saudi along with foster closer ties between Saudi people and China.
