Hamad International Airport (DOH), two-time winner of the world’s best airport and nine-time winner of the best airport in the Middle East by the Skytrax World Airport Awards has demonstrated notable growth in passenger traffic.
In the first half of 2023, the airport witnessed a substantial 33.5% increase in passenger traffic and an 18% rise in aircraft movements compared to the same period last year.
The apex of this growth was in July 2023 when the airport achieved a historic milestone – serving over 4.3 million passengers in and out of Doha.
This achievement reaffirms Hamad International Airport’s position as an aviation industry leader committed to delivering an exceptional travel experience and its pivotal role in connecting the world from Doha.
Carrier Partnerships
Since its inception in 2014, Hamad International Airport has welcomed hundreds of passenger aircrafts from across the globe, airport connectivity has grown to over 170 destinations worldwide.
Recently, the airport has announced three exciting additions to its network: Gulf Air, Xiamen Airlines and Iberia.
These new partnerships are a testament to the airport’s crucial role as a main hub between East and West – poised to enhance its network with new routes and increase flight frequencies on existing ones.
Gulf Air has already initiated three weekly flights, linking Doha with Bahrain’s capital, Manama.
Meanwhile, Xiamen Airlines is preparing to launch daily flights from Beijing, China to Doha – commencing on October 20 of this year.
Additionally, the airport will introduce bi-weekly flights from Xiamen, China to Doha starting on October 31, 2023. On December 11, Iberia will commence daily flights from Madrid, Spain to Doha.

Newly Announced Flights
In 2023, Qatar Airways earned the prestigious Skytrax Best Airline in the Middle East Award, cementing its reputation for excellence.
Building on this success, the airline has introduced a range of new and reinstated flights departing from its hub at Hamad International Airport.
These flights provide travelers with access to an exciting array of destinations.
Since May 2023, Qatar Airways has been connecting passengers to Manama, Bahrain, and has further expanded its reach by including Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina in its flight offerings.
In addition, the airline’s network now extends to a variety of French cities beyond Paris, encompassing Lyon, Nice and Toulouse.
Continuing its expansion, Qatar Airways initiated flights to Mikonos, Greece, and Haneda, Japan in June, while maintaining regular service to other cities in these two countries.
Travelers can also explore Moroccan culture with direct flights to Casablanca and Marrakech since June.
