Odisha Tourism organized a roadshow in Hanoi, Vietnam, for the third leg of its international tourism promotional campaign with the aim of luring travelers from Southeast Asia. More than 130 tour and travel operators from Vietnam participated in the Tourism Roadshow, which was organized in collaboration with FICCI, according to government sources.
The opening session started with meetings involving stakeholders from Vietnam and Odisha on a business and government level.
The roadshow provides an opportunity for Vietnamese industry stakeholders to network with their counterparts in the Odisha tourist sector and identify opportunities for tourism promotion, according to tourism director Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav, who also highlighted the different tourism attractions of Odisha.
He shed light on various tourism products that Odisha has been providing to draw visitors from Vietnam, especially the Buddhist circuit, by drawing comparisons between the cultures of the two regions and the historic maritime trade connection between Champa (ancient Southern Vietnam) and Kalinga (erstwhile Odisha).
“This roadshow series will foster collaborations between Odisha and Vietnamese stakeholders in the tourism sectors and would enhance the marketing efforts of Odisha and Vietnam to promote the destinations to prospective tourists,” said Indronil Sengupta, chairman of the Indian Business Chamber in Vietnam (INCHAM Hanoi).
First Secretary (Consular), Rachna Srivastav, requested that Vietnamese tour operators create and curate unique itineraries for Vietnamese tourists to see the revered Buddhist sites of Odisha.
