Discover the 11th Annual International Indigenous Tourism Conference: The Highlight Event of Ottawa, Ontario this Year

Ottawa will host the esteemed 11th Annual International Indigenous Tourism Conference on unceded Algonquin Anishinaabeg Territory. The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) is in charge of organizing the event, which is slated for February 25–28, 2024. ITAC’s vision is to “help make Canada the global leader in Indigenous tourism by 2030. The conference will use Ottawa’s award-winning Shaw Center and host more than 1,000 attendees over the course of four days.

Lesley Mackay, Ottawa Tourism’s Vice President, Meeting and Major Events said that the 2024 International Indigenous Tourism Conference represents a landmark event for Ottawa. She feels honored to welcome to Ottawa industry participants, tourism business owners, and Indigenous leaders. She says. “This conference serves as a platform to share ideas, build meaningful connections, and further elevate Indigenous tourism within our country and beyond”

ITAC has been in the forefront of supporting economic development in Indigenous communities across the nation, fostering collaborations, and promoting authentic Indigenous experiences. The conference’s central goal is to foster collaborations among associations, organizations, government agencies, and business executives from across Canada in order to support the expansion of Indigenous tourism there and to meet the demand for the creation and promotion of authentic Indigenous experiences.

Lesley Mackay concludes by saying, “As the capital of Canada and a city known for its history and cultural diversity, Ottawa is the ideal host for this significant event. With its stunning landmarks, vibrant arts scene, and welcoming atmosphere, attendees can look forward to immersing themselves in an unforgettable experience.”

The International Indigenous Tourism Conference will be held in 2024, and Ottawa Tourism encourages all participants, industry leaders, and stakeholders to mark their calendars. In addition to honoring the tradition and ancestry of the Algonquin Anishinaabeg people, the guests will help to build the future of real Indigenous tourism in Canada.
