Network Rail is investing $108 in the UK rail system on 530 projects to improve train services across the country. It will consist of resignalling and switches. Also crossing works at Clapham Junction will be undertaken. Public works will also begin London Euston and Watford North Junction to improve the capacities and the passenger system. It will also include lain line track renewals, switches and crossings and HS2 works.
Bridge renewal works will begin at Coventry South Junction and HS2 enabling works will be conducted at Hampton-in-Arden. At Bishops Stortford, the Network Railway will conduct switches and crossing renewals. Hertford East and Gatwick Airport will also upgrade their securities and also carry out station upgrade works.
Also the Ebbw Vale Line, a muti-million pound overhaul and the track upgrade work will be carried out in the Llanhilleth area.
Andrew Haines, the CEO of Network Rail in a recent statement has said that till Easter, the railways will remain open as usaual for the people to take a short break or visit loved ones. But the upgrading might affect the lines in some other regions. Thus the passengers are asked to check the schedules before planning their travels.
Network Rail also began the construction of the Levenmouth Rail Link following Transport Scotland’s green light for the $154.11m (£116.6m) project.
