The International Tourism Fair closes with a balance of success that has exceeded all expectations: a total of 111,193 attendees -81,193 professionals from 127 countries throughout its first three professional days and 30,000 in its two days of opening to the public, to which must be added the participants in the digital call of its LIVEConnect platform, which today counts 33,286 registrations, 10% above forecasts.
Representation of companies, countries and destinations have placed FITUR 2022 in figures close to the pre-pandemic editions, with 6,933 participants, -600 main exhibitors- from 107 countries, of which 70 have attended with official representation.
The participation of Ministers of Tourism from 21 countries and 4 official delegations; the active role of the World Tourism Organization, and the multiplied presence of Spanish authorities from all Administrations, led by Their Majesties the King and the President of the Government, have made FITUR an edition with a clear impact on the reactivation of the sector.
It is estimated that the movement of arrivals at FITUR has generated an impact on the Madrid economy higher than the €150 million.
The International Tourism Fair , FITUR 2022, which, organized by IFEMA MADRID , has been holding a special recovery edition since last Tuesday, January 19, closes its doors today with a balance of results that highlights the efforts of the entire the value chain of the tourism industry to generate new opportunities and face 2022 with solid expectations on which to base the expected reactivation. A critical edition to recover the levels of business and activity, which has placed Madrid at the nerve center of the entire international tourist community and which has allowed a message of confidence and strength to be sent to the world.
And it is that the figures of FITUR 2022 have exceeded all initial expectations. On the one hand, the professional participation in its first three days, which has risen to 81,193 attendees from 127 countries, doubling the data of the 2021 edition, to which the visits of the public are added, on weekend days. that, in the absence of today’s closure, are estimated at about 30,000 people , therefore bringing together a global figure of 111,193 attendees. As far as the digital field is concerned, FITUR’s call to the professional world also records record figures.
The FITUR LIVEConnect platform, which complements the fair with a hybrid format with a greater temporal and geographical scope, records 33,286 registrations to date , 10% above the `first estimates. Likewise, traffic to the FITUR website has grown by 90% , reaching 150,000 unique users, double the number in 2021.
The response from companies, countries and destinations has been excellent and also shows an upward trend in terms of representation, approaching the figures of the best editions of FITUR . This is revealed by the 6,933 participants from 107 countries gathered around FITUR 2022, 600 main exhibitors and the official representation of 70 countries , led by the Dominican Republic, which this year and under the slogan ” has it all ” has made an extraordinary deployment of resources and activities as a FITUR Partner Country.
All this movement of arrivals at FITUR has generated an impact on the Madrid economy of approximately 150 million euros, as announced by the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Diaz Ayuso, last Friday on the occasion of the celebration of the Madrid Day at FITUR.
Likewise, it is necessary to highlight the strong institutional support that FITUR has once again received , with the support of Casa Real , once again. put the finishing touch to the opening day with the presence of SS.MM . the Kings of Spain, as well as by the Government of Spain , which chose F ITUR for the presentation by the President of the Government of the second call for the Tourism Sustainability Plan. In addition, FITUR has brought together the representatives of the UNWTO, ministers of tourism from 21 countries and 4 delegations, 7 Spanish ministers , presidents, tourism councilors of all the Autonomous Communities and Mayors of different towns and cities of our country.
T he impact of the celebration of FITUR 2022 has also been reflected in the wide international media coverage recorded these days in which 3,981 have been accredited journalists from 40 countries, almost double that in May 2021.
The impact of FITUR’s channels on social networks has also doubled, with more than 6 million impressions and 90,000 interactions with the profiles of the fair, as a result of the 1,200 posts published on its channels for the retransmission of the event. The fair currently brings together a community of more than 263,000 followers, of which more than 8,000 have joined this week. FITUR was a Trending Topic on Twitter two consecutive days in Spain and one in the Dominican Republic, Fitur 2022 Partner Country. The digital reach of the hashtag #Fitur2022 on all platforms has exceeded 600 million potential hits, making this edition the best to date on social media.
Along with the wide range of content presented throughout the 8 FITUR pavilions by the different companies, countries and destinations, FITUR hosted hundreds of activities, forums and presentations and the different proposals to boost the market in its proposals from the monographic sections FITURTECHY, FITUR KNOW HOW & EXPORT, FITUR MICE, FITUR.
