Anticipating an exceptionally high demand for weddings on New Year’s Eve 2023, which coincidentally forms the unique numerical sequence 1-2-3-1-2-3 (12/31/23), the renowned Wedding Capital of the World™, Clark County Las Vegas, is gearing up for a special event. Lynn Marie Goya, the County Clerk, will inaugurate a temporary Marriage License Bureau at Harry Reid International Airport from December 26th to December 31st, marking the fifth occurrence of this service at the airport.
Situated conveniently at Terminal 1 near baggage claim, this pop-up marriage license bureau will operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the specified period. Its purpose is to simplify the process for couples arriving at Harry Reid International Airport, allowing them to obtain their marriage documents without the need to visit the downtown office. The temporary office will facilitate the issuance of marriage licenses and vow renewal certificates, with the added convenience of accepting credit card or debit payments. Moreover, couples who utilize this airport location will receive an exclusive New Year’s Eve-themed keepsake, enhancing their wedding experience.
Lynn Marie Goya, the Clark County Clerk, expressed her commitment to making the marriage process as seamless as possible for couples. She stated, “We always strive to make the process as easy as possible for couples, and bringing the pop-up marriage license bureau to the airport streamlines the process for couples, allowing them more time to experience Las Vegas’ wonderful New Year’s Eve excitement. New Year’s Eve is already one of Las Vegas’ most popular wedding dates, and adding the magic date of 1-2-3-1-2-3 gives couples even more to celebrate on this historic night.”
Couples seeking marriage licenses or vow renewal certificates can still visit the Marriage License Bureau’s main office at 201 E. Clark St. in downtown Las Vegas. This office is open from 8 a.m. to midnight every day, including holidays, providing an alternative option for couples. It is conveniently located just three blocks south of the Fremont Street Experience, on the south side of the Regional Justice Center.
Throughout the rich history of Las Vegas weddings, unique numerical patterns, often referred to as “magic dates,” have consistently been the most sought-after dates for nuptials. Notable examples include the “Lucky 7s” day on 7/7/2007, when 4,492 couples tied the knot, and 11/11/2011, with 3,125 weddings. Last year, on 2/22/22, another unique date, the city witnessed 2,331 weddings, making it the sixth most popular wedding date in Las Vegas history.
For couples planning to get married in Las Vegas, it is advisable to complete a marriage license pre-application, available on the County Clerk’s website at weddings.vegas. Once the online application is submitted, couples will receive a reference number to present to the Deputy Clerk at any branch of the Marriage License Bureau. Proper identification, such as a driver’s license or passport, is required, and a comprehensive list of acceptable identification and other information can be found on the Clerk’s web page. The cost of marriage licenses is $102. The Marriage License Bureau, a division of the Clark County Clerk’s Office, proudly issues approximately 80,000 marriage licenses annually, making it the busiest in the world.
