Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has announced plans to develop seamless tourism between neighbouring countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.

There was a meeting with leaders of the three countries.

It took place on the sidelines of a summit in Tokyo. It is marking 50 years of Japan-ASEAN cooperation.

In his discussion with Vietnam President Vo Van Thuong, the two leaders agreed to resume Cabinet meetings. Vietnam proposed to host the first meeting in May next year.

One key topic will be rice pricing strategies to increase income for farmers.

Võ suggested collaborative efforts to promote seamless tourism among Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. It is allowing tourists to travel between these countries without needing separate visas.

Srettha also met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, discussing the establishment of a Thai consulate in Siem Reap.

It is to support the growing number of tourists visiting the temple complex of Angkor Wat.

In talks with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Srettha confirmed Indonesia’s purchase of 2 million tonnes of Thai rice.

This increase in rice exports is attributed to drought and the El Niño phenomenon.

Widodo has committed to sending officials to meet with Thailand’s Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Captain Thamanat Prompow next year.

It is to discuss future trade and cooperation between the two nations.
