Fire detection alert prompts emergency landing of WestJet flight

WestJetA Vancouver-bound flight of WestJet that was travelling from Fort St. John was compelled to opt for an emergency landing in Prince George this morning.

 

WestJet flight 3205 had to be diverted to Prince George on account of a fire detection warning light, as per Lauren Stewart, the spokeswoman of WestJet Airlines.

 

The crew of WestJet declared an emergency to establish priority landing and the positioning of emergency vehicles.

 

Thereafter the flight landed normally a short while later around 8.15 a.m. according to Lauren Stewart. The crew declared an emergency to establish a priority landing and the positioning of emergency vehicles.

 

Stewart said that all the guests, baggage and crew have been uploaded.

 

In addition, a preliminary inspection at this time also indicates that no fire was present.

 

The airline has also issues an official apology for the inconvenience caused to the air travellers due to the abrupt landing. There were 44 guests and four crew members on board as per Stewart.

 

WestJet is planning to usher in an additional airplane from Calgary to pick them up and bring them to Vancouver later this morning.
