TIS 2022: Exclusive interview of Xavier Martín Canals, Co-founder & Managing Director, Turijobs

TIS – Tourism Innovation Summit 2022 the global summit of technology and innovation for the travel and tourism industry that has celebrated its third edition in Seville (Spain), has brought together international consultancy firms in the tourism sector to analyse the major trends that are transforming the sector.

Travel And Tour World: COVID-19 has been the biggest hit to the travel industry, lots of people lost their jobs, they had to change their professions, and everything was shut down. You provide jobs or information about the hospitality industry in this situation. Tell us something more about Turijobs.

Xavier Martín Canals: We are happy to be here for the 3rd time. This could not have been better than what we have been through in the last three years. Before COVID, there had been already some changes in the industry. After COVID-19, the change has been really massive. Basically, COVID-19 came and changed the scenario.

We specialize in the tourism and hospitality industry. We love the industry. We want to take part in the tourism industry by providing the right talent for all the companies. I believe we are playing an important role and humbly we want to help people to find the jobs they are looking for. We help them to be successful.

Travel And Tour World: How does Turijobs work?

Xavier Martín Canals: Basically, the concept is companies post their jobs both B2B and B2C. From both these sectors, people can upload their CV with us. It can be found who are searching for jobs in our database. At the same time, candidates can apply for jobs that are available on our platform. Our main markets are Portugal, Spain, Mexico and Italy. We have an increasing trend in international companies that are coming to these countries to search for talents.

Travel And Tour World: We don’t get luggage in the airport all because scarcity of the talent we have been talking so far. So is Turijobs a two-way portal?

Xavier Martín Canals: Exactly, as a company you also have B2B service where you can filter the applications you receive from applicants and also get more information about the applications. We provide different services to companies. The industry has not developed for long time the employer-branding concept and it is proven that there is a massive need of that. We are helping companies to make their offers more attractive. There is a change in the way people look for jobs. Now, the way we look for a job is similar to that we search a hotel.

Travel And Tour World: Does Turijobs want to expand its market in the Middle East and in the Asian countries?

Xavier Martín Canals: Turijobs is fortunate to be a part of the StepStone family. Turijobs belongs to the StepStone group. It is one of the biggest HR companies headquartered in Germany. We are in Belgium and Austria and other countries. We also have other companies in our family in England like total jobs, jobs.ie in Ireland and others.
