The Travel Un’chained conference, the second edition of the Web3 event dedicated to the travel industry, was held in Palma from October 9 to 11, 2023. It was organized by Chain4Travel and provided a forum for a wide range of specialists, trailblazers, and top tourism decision-makers to discuss the most recent trends and advancements surrounding the Camino Network, Web3 technologies, and their effects on the travel industry. This year’s Travel Un’chained conference in Mallorca attracted more than 250 travel and technology managers from 160 top travel and technology businesses.
The conference discussed about recent advancements in the Camino blockchain, a decentralized network guided by the travel industry, which became operational in April 2023. Over 150 businesses are currently a part of the Camino Network.
Ralf Usbeck, CEO of Chain4Travel, introduced the decentralized Camino Messenger, a cutting-edge new feature of the Camino blockchain. This new feature enables travel companies to seamlessly connect to the network and conduct instant transactions across the entire platform. It reduces the costs related to establishing and maintaining numerous APIs for travel companies. It operates by employing bots connected to each partner’s wallets. These bots send encrypted search requests to the wallets of partners within the Camino Network. In response, partners make proposals that are also encrypted. Basic information about reservations is saved on the blockchain, but additional reservation data is kept private and decentralized. The Messenger connects the Web2 and Web3 worlds.
As diverse as the Camino project itself, the event showcased a wide range of fascinating sessions and topics.
Ralf Usbeck, the CEO of Chain4Travel, summarized by highlighting that Camino represents a collaborative endeavor within the travel industry, brimming with immense potential, synergies, and innovative approaches.
