The Tourism Authority of Hawaii is constantly sharing these messages like – Pack your patience and grace; Do not enter the impacted area of Lahaina Town or take photos of the area, even from afar; and support local businesses; as one of the primary questions that visitors are asking is how they can help the people of Maui in its revival process.
In synchronization with different community partners and members, HTA is introducing new videos containing a varied cross-section of Maui locals welcoming mindful visitation and sharing the way visitors can mālama Maui.
Besides, Josh Green, Governor, M.D.’s Office of Wellness and Resilience, the County of Maui and HTA have collaborated to make informational flyers and screen signage with tips for sympathetic, respectful, and responsible travel to help the healing of the community.
These resources are being dispersed sketchily to the airlines, hotels, visitors, rental car companies, restaurants, shops, tour operators and other businesses. Also, the County of Maui has introduced the website – MauiNuiFirst.com with listings of local events and businesses that visitors can help.
Daniel Nāho‘opi‘i, said that observing the guidance of the community, HTA and their partners are refining the tourists before and after they go there with clear-cut ways they can help Maui by visiting with love and respect.
